Greater Outdoors Project: Your Winner in Action

Nov 10, 2008

Last year’s Greater Outdoors Project winner ,the Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Trouts Unlimited, has been working away on a habitat restoration project on Camp Creek, in Wisconsin. How exciting to see the grant money obtained from Greater Outdoors Project come to life! Speaking of which, I am excited to say that there is exciting Greater Outdoors Project news coming soon.  So stay tuned, and until then check out the before/after photos and the recap – fresh from the scene- of the Camp Creek project below.

BEFORE:

"These photos are a small representation of the habitat restoration work that was completed in 2008 on Camp Creek, a cold water trout stream near Madison, WI.  This work was made possible in part by funds obtained through the Greater Outdoors Project.  Prior to the habitat work the stream banks were high and muddy, cutting off the river from its natural floodplain.  The banks have now been tapered back, stabilized with rock from a local quarry, and seeded with native prairie plants.  This project has improved fish and wildlife habitat and reconnected the river with its floodplain.  The Southeast Wisconsin Chapter of Trout Unlimited is proud to have partnered with Redwood Creek to make this project a success!"

AFTER:

My project for 2008 was and is an indoor one. The house needed a major overhaul and it is almost complete. Thank Goodness for Redwood Creek. I have found that it goes well even with hanging drywall and nailing tounge and groove boards. Wink

My daughter came over with the Redwood Creek to help me repaint and redecorate my master bedroom. We had so much fun painting (and tracking the paint) she had to spend the night. The room did turn out lovely though.
